Here are the different types of combs and brushes that will serve as a guide in finding the best tool for your lovely mane.
PADDLE BRUSH
Or, also called the Cushion Brush. These brushes are usually oval or rectangle in shape, and the bristles are attached to a flat cushion-like base which allows airflow. The main purpose of paddle brush is for smoothing, detangling, quick-drying and straightening longer hair. With this brush, you can also get a free massage while brushing your hair.
ROUND/RADIAL BRUSH
Made from wood, ceramic or sometimes even metal, this brush is perfect to in creating bouncy, voluminous curls. There are round brushes with vents in the barrel that holds the heat from a hair dryer allowing airflow through the brush, creating better curls and more volume.
HALF RADIAL BRUSH
It’s called half radial because it looks similar to a round/radial hair brush that is cut in half. It’s also a bit identical to a paddle brush since some half radial brushes have bristles sitting on air cushion. If you have a very thick hair and wants to achieve a gorgeous wave with less volume, then, this brush is perfect for you.
WIDE TOOTH COMB
Also known as, detangling combs. It can be made of plastic, metal or wood and comes in different forms. Some have wider space between the teeth and the tines differ in form and thickness too. Basically, this brush is effectively used for detangling hair.
RAT TAIL COMB
These combs have long pointed handle and fine teeth. The rat tail-like end portion of the comb is used for sectioning hair like for colouring or doing zigzags. While the fine teeth can be used for back-combing or teasing hair.
FINE AND WIDE TOOTH COMB
This is probably the most popular type of comb. It has fine teeth on the other half used to smooth out hair and the wider part on the other half is for detangling.
