Herm\u00e8s introduces their sixteenth m\u00e9tier, Beauty, with their first collection, Rouge Herm\u00e8s, devoted to the beauty of the lips.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cWe approach this new m\u00e9tier in our own way, and with a great deal of pleasure. Herm\u00e8s Beauty is part of who we are: a house where everything comes from creation, driven by artisans who seek to accompany the men and women of today with elegance, and with the integrity and authenticity that we represent,\u201d shared Axel Dumas, CEO of Herm\u00e8s. \u201cIt is the quintessence of our affection for surprise and wonder, which embraces the object, its design, and the desire to be useful while inspiring dreams.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The work began more than five years ago and was the fruit of design, research, and development work under the direction of Agn\u00e8s de Villers, CEO of Herm\u00e8s Perfume & Beauty. In the spirit of excellence and integration of know-how that characterizes Herm\u00e8s, Herm\u00e8s Beauty is a collaborative creation under the aegis of Pierre-Alexis Dumas, the famed house\u2019s artistic director.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pierre Hardy, Creative Director of Herm\u00e8s jewellery and Herm\u00e8s shoes, designed the object. Bali Barret, artistic director of the women\u2019s universe and Creative Director of women\u2019s silk, contributed her vision of femininity and color. Meanwhile, J\u00e9r\u00f4me Touron, Creative Director of Herm\u00e8s Beauty, transposed this vision into makeup. Their work on objects, materials, colors and gestures developed freely through shared affinities and connections. Finally, Christine Nagel, Director of Herm\u00e8s\u2019 olfactory creation, gave this collection its fragrance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rouge Herm\u00e8s lipsticks are Herm\u00e8s objects in their own right, expressing all of the house’s principles in a small item of makeup; sharing the same aesthetic of function as all Herm\u00e8s objects.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur approach to beauty is fundamental. It is to reveal and highlight what is naturally there, with elegance, comfort and pleasure. I like the idea of Herm\u00e8s as an intimate companion, revealing one’s deepest self. I associate Herm\u00e8s\u2019 beauty objects with self-fulfillment, with the color of an individual\u2019s personality,\u201d asserts Pierre-Alexis Dumas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Created from noble materials\u2013lacquered, brushed and polished metal in black, white or permabrass gold\u2013assembled by hand, the lipsticks are rechargeable and made to last.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pierre Hardy explains, \u201cI love the simplicity of pure shapes that colors have the ability to animate. Intuitively, to become timeless, this object had to be able to morph, remain iconic, but stay fluid, be part of a connected sequence, and perpetually recognizable. A constant yet ever-changing object.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The sensual and fine textures of the sticks deposit color in a single stroke, with a matte or satin finish reminiscent of the house’s Doblis and Box leathers. \u201cMaterials carry color. They give it its strength and its subtlety. They give it a particular finish. At Herm\u00e8s, colors travel. They are reinvented from one material to another,\u201d states J\u00e9r\u00f4me Touron.<\/span><\/p>\n

The house\u2019s elegance, spirit and imagination are expressed in 24 hues, a sophisticated selection inspired by the m\u00e9tiers of Silk, with the infinite richness of its color references (75,000 shades), and Leather (900 shades). \u201cLike a silk scarf gracing a woman\u2019s neck that creates radiance and reveals her beauty, for Herm\u00e8s Beauty we wanted to discover or rediscover the emotion of color as a fundamental feminine trait,\u201d explains Bali Barret.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cAt Herm\u00e8s, color is an irrational, intoxicating passion, a craftsmanship of nuances, an obsession with striking the right tone, and a language all of its own.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/h2>\n

The emblematic collection is accompanied by a twice-yearly limited edition of three colors. Each lipstick is also refillable, making way for sustainability in the form of reusable cases. As beautiful inside as they are on the outside, Rouge Herm\u00e8s objects cultivate sensory appeal and attention to detail, right down to a miniature version of the famous orange box.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other beauty objects accompany the lipstick and form the basis of a ritual: a lip care balm, Poppy lip shine, a universal lip pencil, and a lip brush in lacquered wood. A collection of leather accessories\u2013cases and a moon mirror\u2013invite movement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Herm\u00e8s Beauty will be enhanced with other objects, to be revealed every six months from September 2020, until a complete line of make-up is created.<\/span><\/p>\n
