Beauty Lifehacks for the Summer: Travel-Friendly Makeup and Skincare Essentials

The scorching summer weather means two things for your skin. First, you need to protect it from the heat! Second, you need to tweak your makeup routine to ensure it doesn’t melt or flake while you’re out having fun.

It’s all about the right products and small edits to your routine! Here are some lifehacks you need to know about makeup and skincare during the summer.

Be mindful of the products you bring on the plane.

Long plane rides usually wreck havoc on your skin. A quick application of skincare products can solve skin problems before they even happen! But while it’s a great idea to perform a skincare routine in-flight, make sure to research which products are allowed on the plane. There’s nothing worse than having your expensive serum and foundation confiscated before you board your plane!

Generally, liquids may only be carried in containers holding 100ml or less. All your hand carry liquid products, when gathered together, must also fit  in a 20 cm x 20 cm transparent bag. Everything else must be checked in. Whatever you need to use in-flight should be transferred to tinier, travel-sized containers.

Apart from considering what you should bring and how you should pack them, you should also consider what you need in the first place.

Cleansers and Facial Wipes

Dirt eventually causes pimples, so cleansing your face is an important step. Washing your face with facial wash and water is not always an option while you’re in transit. Opt for facial wipes that you can use anytime and anywhere.

As with any skincare or makeup regimen, always remember to start with a clean face.

Dermalogica PreCleanse Wipes (Php 1,250)

Each biodegradable wipe melts away layers of excess oil, sunscreen, waterproof makeup, pollutants and products.

Lip Treatment

The lips usually get dried up and chapped on long flights. Make sure to drink enough water and to bring a product that takes care of your lips.

Laura Mercier Infusion De Rose Lip Balm (Php 1,150)

This product is a restorative lip balm that locks in moisture to smooth lips and helps shield against environmental stressors. A luxurious blend of Rosehip Seed, Kukui, and Macadamia Seed Oils.

After cleansing your face, the next step is to moisturize it to combat the dryness from the weather and the plane.

Areum HydroPower Serum (Php 4,250)

Primer

Make sure your makeup stays in place. Your primer is even more important during the summer!

This weightless primer prolongs and enhances the look of makeup. It has an oil-free formula which disappears into the skin. It has specialized antioxidants help to deflect pollution and other environmental aggressors. That way, even the sun and the pollution all around you won’t ruin your makeup. Its broad spectrum SPF 50 provides protection from the sun, too–a perfect bonus for the summer season.

Facial Mist

Facial mists help you (and your skin) stay refreshed during the summer.  They keep your makeup in place and give you a natural-looking glow throughout the day.

Neal’s Yard Remedies White Tea Facial Mist (Php 950)

This light and refreshing facial mist has a blend of antioxidant-rich white tea and calming organic aloe vera. It soothes and hydrates all skin types. With this product, you don’t have to remove your makeup and douse your face in iced water just to feel refreshed.  It smells great, too!

This is a facial spritz based on Ylang Ylang that helps to hydrate and plump skin cells. It contains ingredients to calm and protect the skin. It often gets rave reviews online from users who enjoy how it functions as both a setting spray and a moisturizer.

We hope these tips helped you properly take care of your skin during the hottest days of the year. You don’t have to worry about melted makeup or oxidized foundation. You just have to use the right products.
